Well done to everyone in KS1. The Gallery Exhibition in the hall on Friday 15th May was amazing! Every child in the Key Stage contributed to the exhibition. The children had the opportunity to share their visible learning outcomes in Literacy and Art with their grown ups. The standard was really high. Here are some photos that give you a flavour of all the high quality learning outcomes that KS1 children had achieved over the first half of the Spring Term.
The Foundation children were in for a shock when they got into class lastTuesday. They discovered fruit all over the floor, their trays had been pulled out, fur was shed over the floor and muddy footprints adorned tables and walls! They then discovered a note...from the big bad wolf! Our extremely motivated and excited children then made wanted posters to let the other children in school know so they could keep an eye out for any clues. Ted spotted one and came to report broken sticks on the field at lunchtime! Later that day the children got a phone call from the forestry commission asking the teachers to email wolf trap designs from the children. The teachers emailed them across and an hour later Mrs Trapnell received a call to say Wilburs trap had caught the wolf!
What a very exciting, challenging day! The children were very inspired and created some fantastic and imaginative learning as a result. Well done to our rugby team who yesterday reached the Quarter Finals of their tournament. Their teacher said:
"It was a complete pleasure to share their afternoon with them. All of them put 100% into the games and played so well. Please let them know how proud I was of them all. They won their first 3 matches and only lost out on being in the semi's due to an extra time try. They deserved more." Also to report - on Tuesday the Year 5/Year 6 Quad Kids Athletics (Third Place): Mr Lee took a fantastic team of Year 5 and Year 6 athletes to Quad Kids - including Luke C and Jake H who singed up at the last minute. We had a lot of fun - including piggyback races - but when it came to the competitive events everyone in the team gave 100% with the girls being equally as a talented as the boys. Look! A caught these naughty year 6s invading my playground and drawing all over it in chalk!
Well......if it helps with their SATs practice I guess that's ok!!! Take a look at what Miss Hume and Mrs Dye's class have been up to!! Well done to Delilah, Iona, Millie, Grace and George for speaking so well. KS1 had an amazing talk by the Hawkridge Bird of Prey Centre this morning. The children learnt lots of interesting information about owls- what they eat, how they catch their prey, how they camouflage themselves, where they are found etc. They also got to see four of the five native owls close up.
This was a very inspiring talk which really complimented our learning in class this half term on nocturnal animals. |
