The Nursery children have been creating their own games this week. They have been learning about negotiating, rules and challenging themselves. This was a game the children made themselves. They recorded the number of times they had thrown their toy into the hoop. They used the big number line to draw the numeral. What amazing, independent learners we have!
On Monday, the children turned into detectives and learnt all about how to solve crimes! They found out how to recognise whether the criminal was a male or female, about finger prints and DNA. They then have to use their knowledge to problem solve and find out who stole the money from the safe!
Well done to everyone who entered today - you really do have talent!
The stand out performers were: - Ruby and her skipping; - Thomas, Jake and Danny and their Football comedy. - Millie for her singing and dancing; - Hope for her singing; - George with his recorder; - Isla, Alice, Lily and Charlie for their dance; - Esme, Alice, Phoebe, Effie and Katie for their dance. We've been learning that God made us all equal, but because of our differences sometimes we can be unkind to each other.
We discussed how ridiculous racism is. Listen to Millie's song she wrote about it. Superb! Below is the book trailer book club made. They found out about the book, planned it out then worked together to make the book trailer. They had a lot of fun doing this. By Mr Hyde Year 6 have been to sing to the residents of Baycourt. Here is the report from Mr Moger-Taylor:
Today's visit to Baycourt was a wonderful success. Year 6 were a real credit to the school and I was really proud of their attitude and enthusiasm. We have been asked to come back as many times as possible. They sang several songs incredibly well - with Poppy singing a Solo. Of course what really helped was the coincidence of 'World Book Day' and the children's costumes not only at Baycourt - but the expressions of the Public as we made our way there and back. In Reception/ Year 1 this week we have been Leaping into Life and creating sequences of movement in pairs and small groups. We have tried high level and low level travelling and can now hold our body in well controlled shapes. We have really challenged ourselves by working with different class mates and learning from each other.
In Maths this week we have been looking at length and problem solving How to measure a wiggly line using cubes. We worked in pairs and had a good go at finding a solution. Ruby said, "We would have to make it straight and measure it". Harvey suggested "We should use wool to measure the wiggle then measure the wool with cubes" What creative thinkers we are growing! |
