SPSA Super Swimathon 2014 SuccessWhat a wonderful event.
What a fantastic event. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped out. It was a wonderful evening with lots of enthusiasm and great team work. Well done to each and every team – what powerful swimming and a great way to raise money for the St Peter’s School Community Swimming Pool.
During the entire event 1,650 lengths were swum! That's 41,250 metres (about 25.5 miles) – phew! To put that into perspective, the River Otter, from its source in the Blackdown Hills in Somerset to its mouth here in Budleigh Salterton, is approximately 20 miles, or the English Channel, at its shortest, is 21 miles wide! Thank you to everyone who helped to raise money for this event or indeed was a sponsor. We will be sending out information on the final amount raised in the school newsletter in a couple of week’s time, when everyone has given in their sponsorship money to the SPSA via the school office. Don’t forget though – you can still donate to the fund online through Just Giving (even just £1 or £2 helps) or by dropping in cash or cheques to the school office (www.justgiving.com/superswimathon). The Year 6/Teachers team and the Year 6 Swimalot Splashalot team will be awarded group trophies and individual winner’s certificates in a school assembly over the coming weeks. The other student teams all did brilliantly too, with each team swimming at least 1.2 miles! Although the adult-only teams will not be receiving a trophy, we still want to point out how well they all did and what a great team effort it was – with each team swimming at least 1.7 miles and the winning team swimming a colossal 2.2 miles! |
