Welcome to St Peter's Church of England Primary School
As the new Head-teacher of St Peter’s C of E Primary School, Budleigh Salterton, it gives me pleasure to welcome you to the website of our school. St Peter’s School is at the very centre of community life in Budleigh Salterton.
Last year, 2013, the school celebrated it's centenary. During the last one hundred years we've had the privilege to serve many local families. There is a great spirit of tradition which we have successfully built on but at the same time we have embraced new ways of thinking making the school a vibrant place to learn. There is excellent provision for all types of teaching and learning and we are committed to working with parents/carers in partnership.
We are an inclusive church school that sets high academic standards in core subjects. We are in the process of developing an inspiring and unique St Peter's curriculum, that will have our Christian ethos and locality central to its mission of providing a purposeful and motivating experience for our children. How many schools can boast our fantastic sea and riverside setting, as well as being on the edge of Woodbury Common?
There is a strong emphasis on sports and music, with a wonderful programme of extra curricular clubs and activities. The Foundation Stage which includes nursery and reception is second-to-none.
The pastoral aspect of our school is based on the Christian values of love, friendship, peace, patience, trust and self-control. These values are greatly cherished through daily collective worship resulting in pupil’s good standards of behaviour and conduct.
The last inspection of St Peter’s judged the school to be good with many outstanding features and we aim all the time to strive to move our school forward. Whatever the ability and disposition of your child it is our aim to motivate and nourish their potential. Please come and visit us and see for yourself.
Best wishes,
Steve Hitchcock
