Dear Parents,
You will by now have received a copy of the Ofsted Report which I hope you are pleased with. The Inspector commented that the new inspection is far more rigorous than the old one and so the achievement of our second `Good' judgement is an endorsement that the school has improved over the last five years. Following the loss of Mrs Sally Roberts there was considerable disruption in the management of the school which the governors resolved by appointing an experienced and highly successful headteacher to settle the school. The Inspector commented "The acting headteacher, having taken up the post two years ago, has worked extremely hard to restore stability, reversed some previous underachievement and put the school firmly on the path to meeting or exceeding challenging targets". Mr Elliott is to be congratulated on his hard work but just as vital was the enormous amount of hard work put in by the leadership team and staff who responded so well to Mr Elliott's leadership and produced such excellent work. The school is constantly re-assessing its performance and regularly updates its `Self Assessment' document. As a result there were no surprises in the inspection report. The leadership team and staff had accurately assessed the school's strengths and weaknesses and their own overall assessment was that we were achieving a `good' standard. We have procedures in place to overcome our weaknesses and both staff and governors are determined to raise standards further and to achieve an `outstanding' judgement at the next inspection. This will take time and hard work so you can rest assured that the school will be constantly challenged by Governors and the Leadership team. There will be no let up in our efforts to improve the education of your children. It is human nature to look at the less positive remarks in the report but I would ask you to look at them carefully. They have been made in a constructive manner to help us improve further. In every category of the report the school has been judged by the Ofsted Inspector as `GOOD'. What the inspectors have stated is that we are in a position to achieve an `Outstanding' judgement if we resolve the issues they have raised. I can promise you that the Governors, the Leadership team and staff are determined to do this. Finally many thanks to you, the parents, who responded so well to the on line questionnaire (Parent View), to our own internal questionnaires, to the day to day support you give the school and to the parents who wrote letters to the lead inspector. We will be thanking the staff for their very hard work and congratulating them on such a successful inspection; but the hard work of further improvement will go on.
